“Let us not give in to temptation before it gets away from us.” Epicure, with its slender silhouette, observes us with curiosity and gentleness, a voluptuous hedonist. This Epicurean woman, the final sculpture of artist Philippe Hiquily, evokes with serenity the incredible plastic journey carried out by the artist throughout the 20th century, during which he never ceased to explore the forms and curves of female figures with charm, poetry, and humor in order to better capture and extract their sensuality. The Marathonian mythical sculpture that the artist captured in full effort is left aside; instead, the Epicurean woman seems to be caught in a moment of calm and pure ecstasy. Coy and nonchalant, she offers herself to the pleasure of the gaze, one arm raised as to better reveal her chest. Her other hand gently caresses her knees, while her mind wanders in her dreams. But is she truly wise or simply relaxed and sated after surrendering to pleasure and reaching the climax? Made of black-painted metal. H 16 x L. 8 x P. 8 cm – 208 gr.
