Mister Marcus : biography

Whether he signs his paintings "Mister M", "Marcus," or "M2R," he will mischievously reply: "Call me Mister Marcus!"

Born in the '70s, Mister Marcus grew up in the suburbs of Paris. During his high school years, he experienced the explosion of Hip Hop and Street Art in France as a huge shock! From that time, he kept the wordplay, humor, sense of rhythm, and love for stencils and lettering...

Closer to the Rock scene, he abandoned his spray cans to develop a more refined style, closer to Pop Art, integrating his passions for music and comics. His style is instantly recognizable, with all the squares that make up his works. As far back as he can remember, he has always drawn; and throughout his life, this geometric shape has always accompanied him.

He loves to throw them onto his canvases like torn photos from an old album. He enjoys playing with them, manipulating them, frustrating them, stacking them... until they gain a new meaning. He energizes them with Pop colors, confronts them with other shapes... and takes great pleasure in transporting them into improbable universes.
