Joan Miró was born in 1893 in Barcelona and passed away 90 years later in Palma de Mallorca in 1983. His Catalan roots had a profound influence on his art, which spanned painting, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramics.
In 1928, the relationship between the Catalan painter and the Surrealist movement became strained. Political movements began to infiltrate the artists' world, creating strong tensions until 1930. Some members aligned with the communist party, while the other half preferred to fight through painting. Miró turned to collage, giant sculpture, and ceramics. To this day, he has become an iconic figure in the history of art.
