Ettore Sottsass, Italian architect and designer, is an iconic figure in 20th-century design, best known as the founder of the Memphis movement in the 1980s. Born in Innsbruck, Austria, and raised in Italy, Sottsass combined elements of Pop Art, Art Deco, and Futurism in his bold creations. His works, ranging from typewriters for Olivetti to colorful and asymmetrical furniture, embody a spirit of rebellion against traditional aesthetic norms.
Through his work, Sottsass sought to inject humor and irony into everyday design, making each piece memorable and distinctively vibrant.
