Ememem

Biography

Ememem is a French urban artist based in Lyon, famous for his colorful mosaics that repair sidewalks, cracks, and potholes in cities around the world. Inventor of flacking, an artistic practice that blends street art, contemporary mosaic, and urban repair, Ememem transforms the city's wounds into poetic and geometric works.

Since 2016, his discreet but impactful interventions have been bringing damaged cobblestones in Lyon, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, and Tokyo back to life. His work is part of an artistic, ecological, and social approach, celebrated by both the public and urban art professionals.

Each flack – a contraction of “flaque” and “crack” – is a unique composition, often made of ceramic, wood, or glass tiles. These pieces catch the eye with their hypnotic shapes and vibrant palettes, while blending seamlessly into the urban fabric. Ememem signs his works under a pseudonym, cultivating the mystery surrounding his identity.

Present in group exhibitions and invited to several street art festivals, Ememem is today considered a key figure in European urban art. His work, between poetic repair and an approach to reappropriating public space, takes a fresh look at the city and its imperfections.
