D*FACE : biography

D*Face, also known as Dean Stockton, is a street artist who uses a variety of techniques, combining spray paint, stickers, posters, and stencils.

He grew up in London and developed a strong interest in graffiti from a young age. His passion was sparked by Henry Chalfant’s coverage of graffiti in the New York subway, in *Spraycan Art* and *Subway Art*. As a teenager, the graphics on skateboard decks and the covers of *Thrasher* magazine fueled his keen interest in stickers. He took a course in illustration and design and worked as a freelance illustrator/designer, all while developing his style on the streets. His major inspirations include the famous "Obey Giant" art campaign by Shepard Fairey, Jim Phillips, as well as hip hop, punk music, and popular cartoons.
