Urban Piece is a work by Lasveguix, alias Guillaume Picart, taken from his series of urban collages constructed from fragments of torn posters. Each composition is a sensitive reinterpretation of the city, captured in its graphic chaos and visual effervescence.
Taken directly from the walls, the layers of posters are torn, juxtaposed, cropped, then reworked in the workshop. Lasveguix’s gesture is as much akin to that of a surgeon as to that of a visual archaeologist. This results in a « wall skin », living matter, decomposed memory of public space.
In this piece, the artist explores the tension between wear and tear and graphics., between the chance of tears and the mastery of composition. The result is raw, vibrant, deeply urban—a form of visual poetry born of the ephemeral.
